At our recent roadshow events for new CashBack Youth Work Fund recipients we met David Brown, from Hamilton United Connections. He spoke to us about the induction programme that was created for youth workers, which is neatly summed up in a card called CARE which stands for:
The card gives all staff and volunteers an easy guide which can be carried around in your pocket, that promotes good practice for all. It's opening statement is bold and clear on youth work when it states:
"Young people in Scotland have an entitlement to be supported by skilled, competent youth work practitioners who take account of their whole wellbeing."
With kind permission of the universal team, we can share with you how they introduce SHANARRI and Curriculum for Excellence to youth work staff. It promotes this definition of good youth work.
It's well designed and if you're interested in finding out more, please contact David. In the meantime you are welcome to browse their youth club card package.
